Wild Swim

Previously known as Picture House, Wild Swim are an Oxford band beginning to get a bit a bit of attention from Radio 6 on the back of their gorgeous new demos. Perhaps worth listening to first would be Meek and Mild (Black Keys) where the calming voice of vocalist Richard Sansom blends seamlessly into a mellow, almost pastoral intro before the song elevates towards a relaxing yet tuneful chorus. The accompanying songs Happy Heat and The Surrender are much in the same vein and seem to suggest the band have found their most effective direction, somewhere in between Wild Beasts and what Wilco would have sounded like had they grown up on a farm together. Well worth checking out also is their older track Ugly People which honestly sounds like it could be a Timbaland production away from Radio 1... in a good way.

This is a link to their website where you can get free Soundcloud downloads - http://www.wildswimmusic.com/

They're also playing The Wheatsheaf in Oxford on the 27th of November which will be well worth checking out.

Calibre - Open Your Eyes

Wow, what a tune. Lovely glitchy stuff. And some people thought that Calibre had gone mainstream. Watch out for the Even If LP coming out on 15th November.

Warehouse Project Competition Mix

This is where you will find all you are looking for aswell as helping a brother out:

'Henry-Smallz for Mayor'

Nether, June Miller and a few friends

It really has been a while since I bothered putting up some dnb. However in this time there have been hundreds of great tunes that I have come across, and now they get their chance on the blog. I feel a good way to start of the selection is with June Miller - Late night lies (free download from June Miller). This is without doubt a beautiful track, I challenge anyone to say otherwise. Then theres the Marcus Intalex remix of Nether's True Believer. This is a really nice liquid tune with some dirty samples, really good for getting you going before a night out. From there I would have to move on to what is personally one of my favorite tunes in a while from any genre, Data & Dynamic - Compassion. Kathy Brown provides a killer vocal, and in a minor key it induces a sort of euphoric malaise, then dropping a massive bassline just to get you going again. Great tune! As usual Mutated Forms are tearing it up so easily get there new tune on the blog(excuse the recording). I move onto Supreme Being - Shaolin Steel because, well, I think that I like it. I'm not quite sure about this one as I'm not really the jump up type, but it works I think. I quite like dBridge & Jubei - Patience VIP so I put that in. And then, as if I had forgotten, Jonny L - The Rave. This is quite simply and incredibly fun tune. Jonny L has managed to almost completely encapsulate the rave scene in one song. Love it! There are a few other good songs I could put up but for now i think that will be it. Out.

Friendly Fires - Bugged Out! Mix

I've got it and I think that you should get it basically. If you would like to hear some really chilled house this is the album for you. Mixed by Jack and compiled by the three of them this is a really upbeat fun group of tunes. From the horses mouth, Ed felt like Tensnake should not have been on there but they had to try and appeal to a larger audience. I've put a few of the best into a little playlist for your enjoyment.

Logical Progressions

Now clearly this isnt a very up to date post, as in about 15 years old, but that is why i think that it is so important that it goes up. it is one of my favorite dnb albums of all time and one that put LTJ Bukem up there as one of the greats of the genre. It is a compilation of 'futuristic' liquid that will send you off to a completely different world. I can not praise this LP enough as it still has so much common ground with dnb & liquid of today. I recommend that you listen to this from beginning to end and do not skip a track, however if you are in a rush i recommend putting on Bukem's Coolin' Out, this is definitely one of my favourites of all time. Enjoy.
